Every two weeks we do a high-power rifle shoot, it’s a competition, each week there’s a winner, a team-winner, and at the end of the season there’s an overall winner.

But today, today it was -10. The equipment for monitoring the target, for the precise placement of these shots, is all computerized, there’s a wireless access point, a bunch of audio sensors, etc. And it does not play nice in frigid cold. It would not connect. So instead of the normal highly-competitive shoot that contributes to the final winner, we did a funzies shoot. We each got one sighter, to warm up the barrel, and then ten shots, as close to the same spot as we could. I shot really well. You can’t see where your previous shot is, so you can’t self-correct, you just have to aim as best you can and hope. and this was way better than I’d anticipated. I’m so pleased I did this without a feedback mechanism. I’m really getting better!
