Walmart and other big-box retailers have done it in other ways, they edge out local businesses, so to get things <em>at all<\/em> you have to drive further, which costs time and gas, so you buy from Walmart&#8230;even worse if you work there, you&#8217;re always broke so you&#8217;re just so grateful for the discount&#8230;<br><br>&#8230;and then they paint it as a good thing, when really this is why we can&#8217;t have nice things&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>In related news, you can use this method to download your kindle books to your kindle device or PC. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>To do a lot at one time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Amazon website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Content &amp; Devices under the Account &amp; Lists menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Books<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select All<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>click on Deliver and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>select your Kindle and they will be sent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>then turn on wifi and connect<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sync (menu option or icon)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and the books will download<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>the above will do 25 at a time; to do more than 25 at a time, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the next page then repeat Step 4 and the total at the top will now say 50. Continue on doing this and then do steps 5-9. If you&#8217;re downloading to an actual Kindle, I&#8217;d suggest plugging your Kindle into a charger and leaving it that way for a day or two because all those books will need to index.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve downloaded them all:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">For a Kindle device<\/span>, you can take it off wireless. Airplane mode, they can&#8217;t touch anything. But you cannot add anything anymore, either.  If you&#8217;re divorcing Amazon entirely, this won&#8217;t hurt&#8230;much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">For a laptop\/PC<\/span>, you can find a copy of your books and move them. This does NOT change the format, you will still need a Kindle-brand app or device to open them.
